“Shiritsu Oedo Gakuen Koubuki”
Saber Marionette 2 “Shiritsu Oedo Gakuen Koubuki” (私立大江戸学園興亡記) [History of the Rise and Fall of Oedo Academy] is written by Satoru Akahori. The story takes place 300 years after SMJ, and 100 years after the events in SMR it is set in Oedo Academy, a private school in Japoness. This is a time when there are many developments in technology, marionettes can grow like real humans because of nano machines and there are also male marionettes. Certain rules are put in place such as limiters so that marionettes can live much like humans and attachments to enhance marionette capabilities.

Tateshina Iori had an unexpected encounter with Inawashiro Kirito who broke into the Oedo Academy entrance ceremony on a motorcycle. Iori is a bishounen (an effeminate boy) who has an Adonis complex and wants to become manly like Kirito. Iori heard of news about Kirito forming a cheer leading group for the Oedo Academy and he decides to join it. But there is a problem, the student council chief stands in Kirito’s way into forming the cheer leading group. The student council chief’s battle machine was sent to fight Kirito for the authorization of the cheer leading group. The story continues with Iori’s childhood friend Muzusawa Kyouko who is a female human, a junior high school classmate named Sora Akebi and more of Iori’s fated sweet hearts Hino Ringo and her friend Kazami Cherry, who dashed with Iori out into Kirito’s crisis and all of them defeated the student council chief’s battle machine! Together they formed the Oedo Academy Support Club!

In the early 2000 a rumor spread about a new Saber Marionette story, but no solid evidence surfaced to confirm if it was true. In March 27, 2004 a report came out about a radio broadcast interview with Mr. Satoru Akahori (the author of the SM series) confirmed that he was going to release a new SM story. The title of this series may seem confusing, but the story takes place after Saber Marionette R as it was described by Mr. Akahori on his now defunct iPolilin site. Unfortunately there were no further developments on this lesser known title, nor any other written account for this available elsewhere other than a passing reference in the Japanese SM wiki. It has been speculated that the project was cancelled although there are no definitive proof that it was the case.
